| About that new global playing field for innovation.
In his latest book The World is Flat: A Brief
History of The Twenty-First Century, Tom Friedman
talks about '. . . the complementary
convergence of the ten flatteners creating this new
global playing field for multiple forms of collaboration.'
All of us interested in innovation want to be able to
contribute something to this convergence, the
result of which has been ' . . . creation
of a global, Web-enabled playing field that allows .
. . -- the sharing of knowledge and
work -- in real time, without regard to geography,
distance, or, in the near future, even language. 'The
tipping point arrived sometime around the year 2000.' Friedman states, however, that 'No, not everyone has access yet to this platform.' He points out that introducing a new technology alone 'is never enough' now. He quotes the well known economist Robert Solow, with whom our C.E.O. and founder worked on the original National Academy of Sciences Ozone-Layer Study, who 'quipped that computers are everywhere -- except 'in the productivity statistics.' Our counseling team can help old-line as well as young inventors understand the 'totally different set of skills' required to collaborate, and manage manufacturing, horizontally as distinct from traditional top-down approaches. 'Cutting-Edge' Technologies Are Our Specialty. If your product idea is one that will also require some technical acumen in grant writing or to market properly, our firm may well have the expertise that you will need. Backgrounds include experience in telecommunications (e.g., NCTE modems for digital phones and communications devices of the future), aeronautics (e.g., composites and micro-electro-mechanical systems - MEMS), satellites (including direct-broadcast television), biotechnology (Genome science), particle radiation, and pharmaceutical efficacy. We are strong in a range of general fields including transportation, energy systems and the environment. But, a product does not have to be high-tech to be 'cutting-edge.' Import/export Issues Are Our Forte. Finally, if
your product is one for export or for outsourcing,
Bartley
Technologies Inc. maintains contacts in
overseas capitals, and in Geneva, Switzerland, to deal
with product approval and import/export licensing. We
have first-hand experience with GATT international trade
laws of the World Trade Organization (WTO). You may want
help to facilitate establishment of a new, or to further
an existing, joint venture with the aim of manufacturing
and/or marketing your product overseas. |
